TV

Nowadays TV program has developed each year, and people have many choices for choosing a channel. Since I came to Chicago, I found the very interesting show it calls ’Punk’ the channel present about American super star’s life. Moreover, people who appearance in the show going to get alone with some star, then they will give a star a big surprise. This TV show is very interesting for me. However, I don’t think old people will like this kind of TV show because it is very low level. Therefore, I could feel the thinking is totally difference between young people and old people.

Glog

We had a glog project which was interview to other people about the difference between high culture and pop culture. My group walked around the park near Harold Washington College. We took some pictures which are very traditional thing for high culture, and we took some pictures on the Michigan Av for pop culture. Moreover, we could interview a guy who was taking rest on the mall, so we asked him about our question. However, I did not know what the difference about high culture and pop culture.

Technology

Everyone knows that technology is very important in nowadays because people’s society become bigger and bigger. Therefore, people need technology to communicate each other and know each other. For example, even though people have long distance from their country, they can use technology such as phone, internet to contact with other people. For me, the most important technology is internet because if I cannot use internet, I cannot contact with my family. Even though I can use international phone call to talk with them, it will cost a lot of money. As a result, it is very necessarily to develop technology because it will make people’s life more convenient.

Movies

After we done with movie project, I could know how to write a movie review. And I wrote two movie reviews. One of my reviews was Troy; it talks about the history of the roman, and the war which had happened in the past. In addition, this history of romance movie troy was published in year 2004 and by one of the famous director Wolfgang Petersen who is from Germany. He has made many of hit movies in America and Germany. Moreover, the movie Troy is the most hit movie he ever made. Also the reason why I chose this movie was just I am a big brad pitt fun. Another movie was called ‘The curious case of Benjamin button’. This is very great movie that I have ever watched before. Moreover, the movie won the Academy Award for the best make up, which was big hit.

Music

We had a presentation which was about music. Therefore, I could know each people have their personal like for the music such as pop, hip-hop, country music and so on. Moreover, I could listen many style of music from my classmate. And what I showed to my classmate was one of famous song in Japan is call AM 11:00.the genre of this song is J-rock (Japanese Rock) the reason why I decided to show this song was because this song is very meaningful. Also, it is my favorite song.

Reading

We have read a lot of chapters and the most interesting chapter was ‘I want to be Miss America’ which we studied in our class. The reason why I choose this chapter is that I am a foreigner too, and I have same opinion which the writer. The reading is about the girl who is not from America want to be a Miss America. As people know, people who can be a Miss American are just American girls. However, the main character whose name is Alvarez could be a Miss America although she is from Dominican Republic. As a result, this chapter made me thinks about being a foreigner in the united state, and how to show me self to other people.

Culture Identity

I believe that culture identity is the identity group or culture. For example, even though, people around world and each country have their own culture, we all have culture identity. For instance, I am a Japanese and I think like Japanese people because I born in Japan and grow up in Japan. However, if people who have different culture identity, they might have some miss understanding or misleading. Therefore, we can explain to each other about our own culture or own rules. That’s why I made a poster and show our classmate about you self.

popculture

Since I started to take pop class, I realized a lot of thing around me such as how people changed by pop culture and how people produce the pop culture things. Moreover, everything which is regarding to pop culture is all started by people’s Idea. For me, when I influences by something are pop culture, there must be something that I interested in such as the object that everybody has it or, something that very common in nowadays. For instance, since I came to US, I have influenced by many things such as iPods, cars, and so on. Honestly, I had a big change since I came here, it is food. I think American food influenced me a lot because when I was in Japan I don’t really care about the calorie of the food. However, I must care about the calorie when I eat American food because I believe that American food is the oiliest food in the world. After I took this class, I learned a lot of things such as what the difference between high culture and pop culture.
